APEX Fun Run 2026

THANK YOU to all of the friends, family, and community members who supported our APEX Fun Run this year. Thank you for making it such a tremendous success in raising funds for Student Experiences and Staff Appreciation. Your generosity has truly made a difference, and our school community is stronger because of you!

Students and staff had such a memorable time at our Fun Run this year and we are all so grateful.

The Honor Choir and 2nd Graders put on a great performance and students and their families made art together!

Special thanks to Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Wallace, and the Specials Team for putting together such a fun night.

Our Chess Champions!

Congratulations to two of our 5th grade students who participated in the UIL Chess Puzzle event this year and received 1st and 4th place! 

These students started their chess journey at SHES 2 years ago when they joined the Chess Club hosted by Ms. Rivera. This year, they started preparing for UIL in October. They prepared by practicing chess puzzles online and on paper in addition to playing each other on the gameboard. These students not only played and practiced during Chess Club- they also regularly played during recess and lunch!

In reaction to the results, Ms. Rivera shared:

"When I was told that one student scored perfectly, I screamed with excitement! In the three years I've been coaching UIL, I've never seen anyone get a perfect 20 out of 20 score in Chess- not from any school!" 

These students along with all of the students from Spring Hill who participated in UIL (one of which was a 2nd grade student who placed 1st in Creative Writing) have made our school community so proud! Overall, Spring Hill placed 6th in the district. 

Special thanks to all of the teachers who helped to coach students in UIL events this year!

SHES celebrated Black History Month with a pep rally that featured performances from the Pflugerville MS dance team and Dessau MS step team; a reading from the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha: Chief Baker and Mr. Tony Hanson; and student presentations about significant figures such as Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges.

It was such a meaningful celebration of Black history and culture!

Supporting Students At Home

Families often ask how they can best support learning at home. Two online programs available to students can make a big difference. Amira supports reading by allowing students to read aloud while the program provides targeted feedback and intervention. i-Ready supports math by offering individualized lessons based on each student’s most recent assessment results. Consistent use of these programs at home can help reinforce learning and support continued growth.

Science Fair Season!

Students have been working hard on their science fair projects this January. Some built their own cars and tested the speed of different materials. Others planted seeds to track their growth or made elephant toothpaste.

Special thanks to students from Pflugerville High School who came to judge the Science Fair and supported our students as they presented their projects.

Congratulations to select 4th and 5th Grade students whose projects advanced to the Science Fair Regionals! 

3rd Grade Fun

Our 3rd graders have been hard at work and having lots of fun! 

Recently, they went on a field trip to the Long Center for a viewing of the Nutcracker. They got to practice their audience etiquette and see elements of drama in action. What a fun day! 

They have also been making holiday cards, bracelets, necklaces, keychains, slime, ornaments and bookmarks and hosted a Market Day to raise money for a local nonprofit. 

We are so proud of the work they have done!

Winter Fest was such a wonderful time with our Spring Hill familes and community members. 

We had visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, performances from our students, pancakes, games, crafts, and Kona ice.

It was also great to see our SHES alumni doing fun and wonderful things.

Veteran's Day at SHES

Spring Hill celebrated our veterans with a special performance from 5th grade. 

They sang songs like the Star Spangled Banner, the Nifty Fifty States, and America the Beautiful. There were also speaking parts in both English and Spanish. Mrs. Bell and the 5th graders did such a wonderful job with this performance. 

Veterans were also commemorated with a reception and letters from some Spring Hill sharks. 

Thank you to all of our veterans who have served our country.

Academic Night

Thank you to all of the family and community members who came to Academic Night! 

It was such a fun night of learning for all of our students and their families. 

The 4th Grade musical, "Elementary School Musical", was also a hit. The 4th graders and Ms. Bell put on such a fantastic show! 

Teachers and staff also worked hard to provide resources for students and their families to work with at home. 

Special thanks to the Pflugerville Library, PfISD Dual Language Department, and PfISD Technology Department for their support.

On Monday, we wore western clothes to give drugs the boot.

On Tuesday, we wore pajamas to follow our dreams with a drug-free life. 

On Wednesday, we wore team jerseys because we are a drug free team.

On Thursday, we wore bright clothes because our future is bright.

On Friday, we dressed up as our favorite book characters to celebrate our healthy lifestyles.

This week we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a parade! Many countries and cultures were represented and it was so special to see.
